St. Tereza's Choir and Orphan Scholars
Beginning in 200x, the Malawian sisters, thanks to funding from American parishes, helped the Mzuzu area churches, Malawi, to feed over 150 AIDS orphans. The sisters and all these parishes formed a partnership where each organization would provide a place and a day's worth of activities, recreation, Bible study and meals for all the orphans in the surrounding area. These orphan gatherings are a full day affair for children who cannot afford to go to school. The sisters and each church partner provide a safe place for them to play and learn vocational skills as well as to worship God and to return home with enough food for the next day. These feeding program days continue to this day, and from it has evolved St. Tereza's Orphan Choir and the Sisters' Orphans' Education Program. The Choir is led by a young sociologist who teaches the tribal heritage of the orphans' families and their art and music through their choir work and tours throughout the region. The Choir was honored to represent Malawi at the Anglican Consultative Council's meeting in Musaka, Zambia in 2016?. Their music is distinctive in that they use only traditional non-electronic accompanying instruments for their songs.
